The benchmark Sensex slipped below the 30,000-mark by falling over 82 points to 29,947.53 in early trade today as the May derivatives series began on a sluggish note, tracking a weak trend in global markets. The Sensex slipped 140 points, or 0.38 percent, to 29,914 while The Nifty too displayed a similar trend to quote at 9,302, down 45 points, or 0.42 percent. The Indian Rupee opened higher by 7 paise at 64.22 per Dollar.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was down 0.40 percent while Japan’s Nikkei shed 0.35 percent in early session today. Shanghai Composite Index trading down 0.35 percent. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average, however, ended 0.03 per cent higher in yesterday’s trade.
