Equity benchmarks reversed some of previous day’s gains amid volatility on Wednesday as investors maintained caution ahead of the outcome of Federal Reserve policy meeting. The BSE Sensex ended with a loss of 95 points at 26602 while The NSE Nifty closed down 39 points and closed at 8,182.
The Indian Rupee closed by 11 paise at 67.53 per Dollar. Overall 910 shares have advanced, 1733 shares have declined and 148 shares are unchanged on the BSE.
The India VIX (Volatility) index was up 4.2% at 16.5. All sectors are closed with negative side. The BSE Mid-cap closed at 12241 and Small-cap Indices closed at 12118, both closing marginally down to 1%. In Commodity market, Gold gained 86 points at Rs 27,621 per 10 gms and silver hiked 366 points at Rs 41,601 per kg.
Asian Market Update: At the global front, Asian Indices ended mixed today amid cautious trade ahead of the US Federal Reserves monetary policy outcome. China’s Shanghai Composite closed at 3140 down 0.46%, Singapore’s Straits Times ended at 2954.06 down 0.04%, Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed at 19253 down 0.02%, all these indices closed in red, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng closed at 22456 up 0.04%.
Top Gainers are Axis Bank, Reliance, Infosys, M&M, Tata Motors.
Top Losers are Coal India, ONGC, Cipla, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel.
